Juice Seeks Fashion Advice
Is the "no white after Labor Day" thing really for real? If so, that's super lame. I just lovingly hand-washed my favorite white pants and I want to wear them tomorrow. What do you all think? Serious faux pas, or justifiable defiance against Marie Claire/Vanity Fair/W/In Style/etc. tyranny?

Gosh, I would just stay away from white shoes after Labor Day...which was easy to do since I didn't have any.
I have heard stacy and clinton completely dismiss this rule and they are the fashion authorities in this country.
I think the rule did really apply to shoes, which gives you an idea of how old that rule is because as LA points out--not many of us own white shoes.
Either lead or follow- the fashion parade. I'm pretty sure you're a leader.

I'm pretty sure the fashion police won't arrest you for this violation but.....can you be a lawyer with that on your record? It wasn't the young and hip who came up with the rule; it was the mean ol' gray haired wrinkled ladies (and they know where you live.) BWAHAHAHHAAHHA
P.S. I know there is something white in your basement that is always in fashion. Send me a picture?
Shad is responsible for the photo of the you-know-what! I started filling it with goodies already yesterday!
ahem, i actually have a fashion police badge! left over from a halloween costume. i like to defer to the rules of "personal style" (that is, where what you want) but white pants is a difficult subject. the wearing of white pants after labor day is entirely dependent on the fabrication of the pants. linen? noway. cotton? doubtful. considering the white demins that were supposedly popular this summer, it's a toss up. if these pants are of some sort of lightweight wool and lined then by all means, wear them. otherwise, i think they would be too summery. besides, isn't it exciting to start wearing your fall clothes anyway?
ps - i have white shoes, they are doctor scholls.
I would just like the record to show that Summra wore white shoes today, and a white blazer, in support of her theory that the no-white-after-labor-day rule died with the Barbara Bush era. In light of your wonderful advice, dear readers, I will be wearing my white (corduroy, Emily) pants this week.
I think of this as a weather related issue. When it's warm, white anything--- I'd never notice. When it's necessary to wear socks with your white Dr. Scholls, maybe it's time to call them quits for the season.
corduroy falls into the "excited about fall clothes" white pants loophole! i LOVE corduroy of all colors. white corduroy is the perfect transition piece for summer to fall.
