Woman Claims Allegations of Kitten Abuse "Unfounded" and "Unfair"

I've been getting some heat for the "cat-locked-in-the-drawer" incident, so I better take a moment to clear some things up. For those of you who heard the news from my husband, it is entirely untrue that I knowingly entrapped our kitty in a dresser drawer overnight. I will admit that I am partially responsible for the incident, but it is entirely unwitting. You see, some people in my household have gotten into the habit of leaving cupboard doors and dresser drawers open ALL THE TIME. My complaints about the situation have led nowhere so I've gotten into the habit of just sighing and shutting them. On Saturday, Shad's underwear drawer was open in the hallway, so I shut it. A few hours later, I heard Car scratching at something, loudly and persistently, so I got up, but I couldn't find her. The scratching stopped when I got up. This happened two more times, and each time I couldn't place the sound, nor could I find her. Then it stopped. I fell asleep. A few hours later, I awoke to hear Shad searching relentlessly through the house for Car, banging on the furnace pipes, etc. He was convinced that she had gotten into the furnace and started taking it apart. We looked for her for a long time. There were no noises or anything. Shad fell asleep downstairs, so he could hear her if she started scratching in the furnace pipes. In the morning, I heard a muffled meowing. I followed the sound to the hallway and pulled out the bottom drawer. Nothing. I pulled out the middle drawer, and Car popped out. She was totally fine and docile, didn't bite me or anything. She didn't even pee in the drawer. So you see, no harm done, and hopefully some people in our family have learned lessons about leaving drawers open? Oh, and as previously mentioned, it did effectively keep her out of the tree for about 12 hours.

If people really knew Car, they wouldn't think that locking her in a drawer on purpose was abuse, it was more of a mini break from pain.
Awww...you know I am joking. Car beautiful little girl. A very beautiful "special" little girl who is discovering her womanhood....locked in a drawer.

I had to laugh when I read that Shad was looking for the cat in the furnace. That would be the first place he would look because when he was about 2, he used to capture all the kittens around the old farm we were living on and carry them carefully into the house, then stuff them down the cold air vent. He found it endlessly entertaining and I was always fishing a cat out of the ductwork.
