Student Miraculously Dodges Bullet in Con Law
Still working on the pre-trial motion. It's due Thursday. I got a whole draft done over the weekend but there is much revision to do. Will be here late tonight and tomorrow night.
TOTALLY dodged the bullet in Con Law today--the stories you may have heard about law school are true--the profs just call out a student's name during class discussion and you had better be prepared with an answer to avoid extreme embarrassment...we had a prof last semester who actually lowered your final grade if you were unprepared when called on. A lot of people just skip class if they don't read to avoid the risk of being called on, but I usually just take the risk so I don't get even further behind. Well, I didn't do the massive amount of reading that was due for today and would have gone down in flames if called on. The prof was calling on people around me, I sunk lower and lower in my seat and somehow, miraculously, I avoided the bullet.
We hosted the rescheduled Amnesty event today with Prof. Erlinder. Lots of people showed up and I thought it was a great success.
Tomorrow am having lunch with Amy Klobuchar! Am so excited! One of our Deans hosts these "Trusted Advisor" luncheons and ten students are invited to have lunch with prominent lawyers in the community who are seen as good mentors/role models. We quickly signed up to see Klobuchar. Summra went to the last one, Judge Paul Anderson, and she said it was a very swank affair.
A few of us are going out for happy hour soon to celebrate Chaman's birthday at McCormick & Schmick's--they have really cheap food if you buy a drink. I'm sure my whole writing process will proceed beautifully after I've had a drink or two.
