Student Eager to Trade Case Books for Grisham
Next in the pipeline is Jurisprudence (legal philosophy). The exam is on Monday. My Tuesday exam is Complex Litigation (class actions, multi-district litigation, etc.). I've spent the day working on a jurisprudence manifesto, which was actually kinda fun. But it's nothing I'm interested in repeating here, and I'll assume it's nothing you're interested in reading. So let's talk about John Grisham. I've been known to be a bit snotty about the paperback novel. But my mom suggested I give Grisham a try, and I'm sure I'll eat it up. I do get sucked into paperbacks, just like I got sucked into that stupid stupid show, LOST. There was the summer, for example, when I read a Danielle Steele novel almost every day. And who's that lady who writes those romance mysteries? Nora somebody. I've read a couple of her books. Anyway, I picked up "The Brethren" at Arc's Value Village for 69 cents. Grisham people, what do you think? Is that a good one? Is there a better one I should try? Please advise.

I didn't think The Brethren was his best one, but it was still pretty good. I definitely enjoyed "The Partner," "The King of Torts", and "The firm" though they take a rather cynical view of the law. Actually, all of his books are good ones. I might recommend "The Testament" for you this week, if you plan to spend this week sitting on your ass reading (After JP and Complex lit, of course).
Make no mistake, M. I do not plan to spend the week sitting on my ass reading. I plan to spend the week drinking. (After JP & Complex Lit, of course). Thanks for the recommendations.
I was always a big fan of "The Client," but that's the only Grisham I've ever read.
My favorite brain candy reading: Linda Howard. Mystery and sex. Perfect with a glass of wine, some cookies, and a chair in the sun.
I'm working on "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing." Not bad. Easy to get through with a exam-fried brain.
But I don't know what it means when there are used copies for sale on Amazon for $0.01.
-Summ.
I really liked that book, Summ. It's not as soft a read as it initially appears to be. I think about it every now and then.
Totally random, but I saw this shirt advertised on Go Fug yourself and thought of you.
Dang. I had to enable word verification on my comments due to these stupid spammers. I deleted a couple of them, but I can't bring myself to delete the one above about obtaining a degree in 2 weeks, verifiable and real. It was a good comment to find after finishing my exams. I notice that they don't offer the "JD" in two weeks. Dang! I should have gone for my "PHD" instead...
