Juice Breaks Personal Pact Not to Rant About Apostrophe Abuse

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I told myself I wouldn't start posting examples of apostrophe abuse on Ugly Juice. Frankly, the abuse is too pervasive, and just thinking about it causes my blood pressure to rise. But I have to mention this. I pass a Ski Montana billboard on my way home from school each day. The logo drives me absolutely crazy. Whenever I see it I do that Marge Simpson throat grumble thing and have to look away. The whole thing is just unfortunate. I would suggest that they take out the damn apostrophe+s and insert a third diamond instead. In fact, all they need is two diamonds on there for people to think "diamonds" when they read it. I hate it, people. I hate it.

i was told about your blog from emily, the owner of the reuben sandwich blog. i find your comments quite entertaining, but i wanted to clear up some of your hatred toward the MT diamond poster. i am from MT and double black diamonds ("double blacks") are the most challenging runs on the mountain. triple diamond runs do not exist, so 3 diamonds would not make sense to those who ski or to those people the ad is geared for. i understand being upset, but maybe next time it will make more sense as you pass it. not sure if that helps.

Kristin-

As the Juice's PR rep, I would like to clear up any misapprehension regarding the Juice's disgust with the billboard in question. The Juice has been to MT. The Juice has family from MT. The Juice loves MT. The Juice knows what the diamonds mean. The problem is, the plural of "diamond" is "diamonds." Not "diamond's." You see the problem here? That liiiiittle apostrophe is a very egregious flaw to the Juice, who suffers from Misused Apostrophe Disgust (MAD) Syndrome. Upon seeing such an unconscionably misused apostrophe, the Juice goes into apoplectic shock. It isn't pretty. The Juice is saddened that the Montana Tourism Board is not more sensitive to people with her condition. That is all.
